It is with great sadness that I write to tell you that Hummingbird Lane is closing its doors after serving the arts for 20 years. Todd and I have loved every minute of being a part of the Dahlonega community, and we both appreciate you, our patrons, artists and community friends so much. While we thoroughly enjoyed our experiences, and were so proud of the work we did, the economy has forced us to make this painful decision.
In true Hummingbird
Lane fashion, we have planned an enormous event for you to come and
enjoy next
Sunday, July 25th. The Big Empty Room Party and Auction will take place
at 1:00
p.m., and the auction will begin promptly at 2:00. We will be auctioning
off
all of the remaining artwork, our antique displays, posters, pottery,
tables,
lamps, iron work, wood work, curio cabinets, antique doors and door
displays,
glass work, and even our
Our story doesn’t end here
though. The biggest question I’ve received has been, “What will you do
now?”
Todd will be setting up his studio at home, and we are currently in the
process
of finding new places to display his work. He has been asked by Margret
Von
Keiser to display in her gallery in Buford, Georgia. If you are ever in
Buford
on the Square, stop by and see Margret, and the latest work of these two
awesome artists, as well as other artists that are currently displaying
with
her. Vicki Cooper at Naturally
Georgia will be carrying all of my wine cups, as well as wine
holders and
other wine related pottery items that I dream up in my studio at home.
Kathy
Aerts at Cranberry
Corners has asked for my coffee cups, bowls, dishes and other fun
stuff.
Todd and I are looking forward to being able to focus on our artwork,
our
home and our friends and family, as well as hosting adult art camps at
our
home.Todd is also auditioning for
If you are interested and
curious about the auction, you can visit our website
for more information. We’ve posted photos of some of the items, and are
posting more daily. If you’ve been to the auction at Bear on the Square,
you
know you’ll enjoy our auction, as Sam Williamson, of Williamson
Brother’s
Auctions, will be live, on stage, facilitating this historical event.
There will be no minimum bids, so this is a great opportunity to grow
your
collections! We truly hope to see you there!!!
My friends, this has been
one of the greatest adventures of my life, and each of you have played
an
important part of the past five years. Please join us July 25th at 1:00
p.m. as
we make home-made lemonade out of the lemons this economy has made so
plentiful!
Stay in the light!
