Our friends at Southern Living have written a wonderful article about visiting Dahlonega. They take you on a tour of their favorite hot spots in Dahlonega.
Happy Fall!!! The leaves haven’t begun to change yet, but we’re already seeing the effects of fall – artists are bringing out their new work every day, and the gallery is filling to the rim!
It’s been a busy summer! Since our last news letter, we’ve had a lot
going on in Dahlonega, and here at the gallery. August and September
are proving to be busy as well, and then we’ll be approaching fall. Can
you believe how time flies!? Let me tell you what’s going on:
The Chestatee Wildlife Preserve Animals and Volunteers made a huge impact on the Square Friday, July 4, 2008. We love to partner up with this wonderful organization and help raise funds for the Shop with a Cop program.
Join us at Hummingbird Lane on Saturday, June 6, as CelticLink duo Nancy Addison (on harp) and Jorgene West (with melodica and vocals) present Celtic Music and Beyond: the music of Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with a little (American) country on the side.
Bear on the Square's 12th Annual Bluegrass and Appalachian Craft Festival was a huge success again this year. We were proud to be the market place sponsors of this Spring event, and once again the festivities surprised and delighted us. Even before we bought Hummingbird Lane, Bear on the Square was one of our favorite festivals. We LOVE the music!!!
Wow, what a day it was for us at Hummingbird Lane! We had been asked by the Chamber of Commerce to organize several local artists to present their artwork during the festivities of the Tour de Georgia. In preparation, Helen Miller made over 100 coffee mugs, Mike Miller painted a hugely unique piece (an abstract!), and can be seen in the photo gallery. I had the great honor of making the prizes for the Dahlonega leg of the race, which were presented to the top five winners of the race.
As I'm editing our website for post-Hummingbird life, I found this video when I was looking for photographs of the winner holding his platter. I thought it was cool and wanted to share it with you! This was such an exciting day in Dahlonega!
Check out our NEW WEBSITE at www.hummingbirdlaneartgallery.com! We’re really excited to announce the changes we’ve made to the site. We’re adding photos all the time, and we’ve added so many features such as Todd and Amy’s Corner, where we tell you what’s going on with us and Bonnie’s Pick’s where Bonnie tells you her favorites that are currently available in the gallery, and so much more!
Amy is constantly creating, as she is now working in clay full time! Come visit Amy's Corner to see her latest works, check out the workshops, classes and events she has planned, and get a first hand look at what Amy's working on. You never know what you'll see when you visit Amy's Corner!
Todd has a new studio, and his creative juices are flowing. Check out his happeningw, whether it be sharing stories of our art shows and gallery visits,
information about local activities,
or just something fun he wants to share, click below to see what's going on with Todd.
